چکیده

We have studied electron emission, luminescence and sputtering from thin Ar ®lms excited by 2 MeV protons. We varied the voltage, Va, of the anode surrounding the target, which extracts electrons from the ®lm and results in unbalanced positive charges. The resulting large internal electric ®elds alter sputtering and luminescence. At the beginning of irradiation of a freshly deposited ®lm, we observe that a positive anode voltage of a few hundred volts produces a large, catastrophic increase in sputtering which gradually disappears as irradiation progresses. We discuss the results in terms of dielectric breakdown induced by macroscopic charging associated with deep charged defect sites. Ó 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved. Eects of under- and overlayers on particle and photon emission from solid argon induced by 2 MeV protons

We studied electron emission, luminescence, and sputtering of thin condensed gas ®lms by 2 MeV protons. For thin Ar ®lms, an external electric ®eld causes nearly complete extraction of excited electrons, hindering hole recombination. This leads to a reduction in luminescence and sputtering. We have observed that overlayers of N2 annul the e€ects of external electric ®elds and also that they dec...

Improving Fast Charging Methods Using Genetic Algorithm and Coordination between Chargers in Fast Charging Station of Electric Vehicles in Order to Optimal Utilization of Power Capacity of Station

Fast charging stations are one of the most important section in smart grids with high penetration of electric vehicles. One of the important issues in fast chargers is choosing the proper method for charging. In this paper, by defining an optimization problem with the objective of reducing the charging time, the optimal charging levels are obtained using a multi-stage current method using a gen...

Electric charging of thin films measured using the contrast transfer function.

The phase shift of electron waves due to charging of thin films is investigated using the contrast transfer properties of the microscope. We take two photos, one with film at the back focal plane and the other one without film. The phase difference between the contrast transfer functions of the two photos is evaluated using our theoretical predictions. The theoretical model is based on an analy...

Bifurcation and Chaos in Size-Dependent NEMS Considering Surface Energy Effect and Intermolecular Interactions

The impetus of this study is to investigate the chaotic behavior of a size-dependent nano-beam with double-sided electrostatic actuation, incorporating surface energy effect and intermolecular interactions. The geometrically nonlinear beam model is based on Euler-Bernoulli beam assumption. The influence of the small-scale and the surface energy effect are modeled by implementing the consistent ...

Ion-induced electrostatic charging of ice at 15–160 K

We studied electrostatic charging of ice films induced by the impact of 1−200-keV Ar+ ions and their subsequent discharging postirradiation. We derived the positive surface electrostatic potential from the kinetic energy of sputtered molecular ions and with a Kelvin probe. Measurements were performed as a function of film thickness, temperature, and ion energy. Charging requires that the projec...
